Caption: The British Antarctic Survey team visited the Neumayer Station III on the way to Halley VI from Novolazarevskaya. Neumayer Station III is an Alfred-Wegener-Institut German Research Station built on hydraulic supports used to raise the station to compensate for new snowfall. Built on a drifting ice shelf, the station moves approximately 157 metres each year. The large door to the underground garage is open on the left.
