Caption: British Antarctic Survey terrestrial ecologist Kevin Newsham sampling from an Open Top Chamber (OTC) at Kvadehuken, a cape on the northwest of the Brøggerhalvøya peninsula, near Ny-Ålesund, Svalbard. The OTCs, which increase soil temperatures, are used to study the effects of climate change on the activities of soil microbes, CO2 emissions and nutrient cycles.
