Caption: Kymella polaris, a cheilostome bryozoan, at 32m depth at Outer Island, Signy Island. This species is bilaminar (it is double sided with zooids on both sides), bright orange in life but fades to white on death. It is a common Antarctic species occurring below 30m at Signy and below 15m at Rothera. This image is associated with the 2005-2010 BAS science programme: BIOFLAME - Biodiversity, Function, Limits and Adaptation from Molecules to Ecosystems.
