Transferred to Chile 14 Aug 1984 and renamed Teniente Luis Carvajal Villaroel Antarctic Base (Teniente Carvajal). Purpose: Survey, glaciology, geology and meteorology. Main air facility and centre for airborne earth sciences programme.
